A 명사구와 명사절 주어

• Learning 〔 To learn 〕 the guitar is a great way to get into the music.

• That the globe is getting warmer is indisputable.

 

<동명사구〔 to 부정사구〕 주어 + 단수 동사>

• What I want to hear from them is their genuine apology. < what 절 + 단수 동사>

 

B 주어와 수식어구 - 삽입구의 구분

• The major cause of house fires is faulty wiring.

• The committee concerned with local development issues is needed.

• The people whom we met yesterday are on TV now.

 

분사구의 수식을 받은 주어 관계사절의 수식을 받은 주어

• Lake Superior, one of the Great Lakes, is the largest freshwater lake in the world. 주어와 동사 사이에 삽입구가 쓰인 경우

 

C 도치된 문장의 수 일치

• There are stacks of books piled on the desk. < There + be 동사 + 주어 ~>

• Sitting at the kitchen table alone was his father. <현재분사〔과거분사〕 / 형용사 + 동사 + 주어 ~>

• Not until we lose health do we realize the value of it. <부정어 not, no, never, no longer 등 / only + 조동사 + 주어 + 동사 ~>

 

D 관계사절 내 동사의 수 일치

 

• This is a story about a man and his cat that love each other. 바로 앞의 선행사에 수 일치

• He agrees there are problems in the park, / which he believes are related to increasing visitors.

 

E 주의해야 할 수 일치

 

• The number of students in this school is 1,800.

• A number of students in this school are wearing glasses.

• Two thirds of adults experience mental health problems such as anxiety or depression.

• Neither is available for a specific period of time. <부정대명사 주어( none, either, neither 등) + 단수 동사>

• The young tend to see voting as a choice rather than a duty.

 

F -s 로 끝나지만 단수로 간주하는 주어

 

• Two hundred miles is too far to drive without stopping. 

<거리 / 시간 / 금액 / 질량 단위의 복수 명사 + 단수 동사>

• The latest news was obtained from reliable sources. 

< news / 질병 / 책 • 영화 제목 / -s 로 끝나는 과목 + 단수 동사>
